Cantonese Workshop Instructor – Ms Fan
Ms. Fan is a seasoned journalist in Hong Kong with over 30 years of experience in media and education. She is well-versed in the operations of newspapers, radio, and television news broadcasting, and has accumulated valuable insights into voice techniques and interpersonal communication.
For the past 10 years, Ms. Fan has been teaching Cantonese pronunciation correction at non-profit organizations. She has also privately taught over 400 students—individually or in small groups—on voice-over techniques and public speaking for electronic media broadcasting.
She graduated from Shue Yan University with a degree in Journalism and later obtained a Master’s degree in International Journalism from Hong Kong Baptist University. Ms. Fan has worked for the Hong Kong Economic Times, Commercial Radio, and Asia Television. She also held supervisory roles in the news departments of Hong Kong Broadband Television and DBC Digital Radio, leading teams in producing 24-hour news programming. From 2007 to 2008, she served as Chairperson of the Hong Kong Journalists Association.
Her years of frontline journalism and leadership experience have given her deep insights into the workings of the Hong Kong government, business sectors, and civic organizations. She is attuned to the pulse of the times and understands the lives of people from all walks of life. With her energetic and cheerful personality, Ms. Fan brings humor, practical knowledge, and rich life experiences into the classroom, engaging in patient and mutual learning with her students.
Currently, Ms. Fan is a freelance writer and holds multiple trainer roles. She serves as Director of Media Relations and Training at Chuen Shun Yan Kin Company. She also assists overseas TV and radio media in gathering information and coordinating interview schedules when visiting Hong Kong.
A strong advocate of lifelong learning, Ms. Fan continues her education despite her busy media career. She is a certified instructor in several hobbies and skills. Coming from a family of tailors and florists, she was immersed in these crafts from a young age and is now a certified international floral arrangement instructor and etiquette trainer.
Ms. Fan has also studied NLP and hypnotherapy under Dr. Denise Wah, gaining valuable personal insights on her journey toward becoming a life coach. She is currently pursuing an Executive MBA at City University of Hong Kong.
